Built environment firms team up for charity

Firms from across the built environment are joining forces this week as businesses team up to raise money for charity.

Edinburgh-based all trades insurance reinstatement specialist INSUREPAIR ® and Shepherd Chartered Surveyors are the headline sponsors of The Big Match, which takes place in the city on Friday afternoon in aid of The Yard, which runs adventure play services for disabled children, young people and their families in the east of Scotland.

Also taking to the pitch at Ainslie Park will be some of the city’s prominent private banks, legal firms, finance brokers and estate agents.

“We are delighted to sponsor The Big Match which is raising money for an incredibly worthy cause,” said INSUREPAIR ® managing director Richard O’Donnell.

“The Yard provides care, support and opportunities for young people, making them feel safe in the process. The Yard aligns perfectly with our values and we’re looking forward to helping raise as much money as possible to help change people’s lives.”

Donal Henretty, managing partner at Shepherd Chartered Surveyors, said: “We were more than delighted to support the day. In some respects we might be rival firms but coming together for charity is really good to see.”

Celine Sinclair is chief executive of The Yard, which is based in the centre of Edinburgh with other sites in Dundee and Kirkcaldy, and she said: “We are incredibly grateful to be chosen as a charity partner for The Big Match, the money raised will go a long way towards helping us deliver vital services for disabled children and their families.

“We directly support over 2300 children and young people from 16 different local authorities, and are reliant on fundraising as well as governmental support. A huge thank you to everyone who’s involved in this charity match, we’re hugely appreciative of the support. And, good luck to the teams on Friday.”
